"My practice is and will always be privately owned and operated; focused on delivering the best results and patient experience.
I am the last oral surgeon in McLean and one of the last in DC who is not associated with a dental corporation or Private Equity firm, which are commercially driven."

About Zach Saltman, DMD
Bio
Dr. Saltman is a board-certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon and nationally recognized authority in dental implantology, full-mouth implant reconstruction, and zirconia (metal-free, ceramic) implants in Washington, DC. As the only oral surgeon in the Washington DC metropolitan area who trained with zirconia implants, Dr. Saltman has pioneered entirely new surgical protocols for ceramic dental implant reconstruction — setting a new standard for metal-free implant surgery in the region.

Dr. Saltman serves as the sole oral surgeon for the elite Georgetown University Head & Neck Cancer Surgery team, where he performs life-changing "jaw-in-a-day" surgeries for oropharyngeal cancer survivors. He has invented novel jaw reconstruction techniques that restore significantly more natural jaw anatomy and teeth than any other approach available worldwide — and remains the only surgeon in the world performing jaw-in-a-day reconstruction using zirconia implants. He co-authored a textbook with the Johns Hopkins Head & Neck Cancer team, and is widely known among Washington DC-area patients and referring dentists as the oral surgeon to see when you've been told you're "not a candidate for dental implants."

Dr. Saltman's path to becoming one of DC's most trusted oral surgeons began at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by graduating at the top of his class at Temple University School of Dentistry. He then earned acceptance to his first-choice surgical residency — one of the most advanced dental implant training programs in the world — where he trained directly under world-renowned implant prosthodontist and best-selling textbook author, Dr. Hamid Shafie. Beyond residency, Dr. Saltman completed a full Advanced Implant Prosthetics fellowship through the American Institute of Implant Dentistry, mastering not only surgical technique but also the prosthetic side of implant care. His philosophy: you cannot be a truly excellent implant surgeon without an equally deep command of the prosthetics that restore a patient's smile.

Dr. Shafie has said of his former trainee: "Dr. Saltman learned everything I had to offer in residency and took that training to a level beyond what I ever imagined was possible. I trained 'master craftsmen,' but Dr. Saltman is the only surgeon I have ever called an 'artist,' who expresses his artistry through his surgeries." Washington DC's dental community echoes that sentiment — dentists across the region have voted Dr. Saltman a Top Doctor in oral & maxillofacial surgery in Washingtonian Magazine every election year since he founded his practice.
Originally from St. Louis, MO, Dr. Saltman brings Midwestern warmth and straight-talking honesty to every patient consultation. His background in amateur comedy and screenwriting gives him a wit and ease that patients consistently appreciate — especially those navigating complex or anxiety-inducing treatment decisions. He and his fiancé live in Washington, DC with their dog and three cats, and are proud supporters of the local music scene.
